A bougie that has turned out just about how I intended. It’s a withered trunk, ume inspired style I’ve been working towards with bougainvillea, taking advantage of their propensity to rot and turning it into a positive aspect of the design. Sparse foliage, a touch of color from the flowers and bracts, more than half the trunk decayed.
It’s a brushstroke, painted on a window in time, waiting for a rainstorm to wash it away.
The pot is a commemorative one from the 2009 BSF Convention, designed by Robert Steven.

Ficus microcarpa in the style I call “tropical broom”.

I call this the friendship tree. It’s changed its shape quite a bit since I first began working on it.
It’s a Brazilian Raintree (Chloroleucon tortum, formerly Pithecellobium tortum). Planted in a steel pot of my creation. Many said that a steel pot would hurt the tree, either by poisoning it, or staying too hot/cold. Looks good to me. Repot/wire/style/fertilize and ready for spring.

The next blog post on Adamaskwhy.com will be on this tree, stay tuned! #bonsai #bonsaiart #tree #ficusbonsai #floridabonsai #rootoverrockbonsai (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)
A sweet, and gnarly little green mound ficus (ficus microcarpa “crassifolia”) I picked up at the Pawlidays auction @thebonsaisupply. It was originally a student/client’s tree I’d been working on with him for a few years, in my studygroup and then recently when he had me prepare all his trees for sale this October. I’d always liked it and I should have picked it up the last time I worked it (woulda been way less expensive).
So when I saw it at auction I just had to get it. I adjusted the front and rewired it #bonsai #bonsaiart #tree #art #floridabonsai (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)
From the latest article on Adamaskwhy.com, a ficus microcarpa and some winter growth (direct link: https://adamaskwhy.com/2019/12/04/gnarly-root-monster/)

With some help from Teeco (yesterday) and Gwendolyn tonight, I got a whole new row made for some trees, moved stuff around accordingly, and got these two huge trees up on a stand (I got courtesy of Marty). The big ficus was from Barry, and the big bougie from Bryan.
Ouch. Big heavy trees and the bench in about 4-½ ft tall

I think I’ll have an open workshop/nursery clean up tomorrow (Saturday, November 30th) at the Nursery tomorrow. There’ll be some burning, some trees, some drink. Come on by, bring something to cook on the grill, your favorite beverages, some trees. Ten am, let’s get some bonsai done #bonsai #bonsaitree #bonsaiart #floridabonsai (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)
Some before and after pics on a carving I did on Rob’s podocarpus macrophylla (Buddhist pine). We had an impromptu studygroup at his house today. #bonsai #bonsaitree #bonsaiart #bonsaicarving #trees #floridabonsai #americanbonsai (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)
