This ficus salicaria, on display at the 2017 Winter Silhouette Show, really had people scratching their heads, or hating on it, or just talking about it. It’s in an early Roy Minarai pot, and the color and texture of the glaze, as well as the wildness of the drip, go especially well with the crazy unstyled ficus. A pot that’s breaking the fourth wall and the tree that’s just all in your face with attitude. I think they work together. #mybonsaiworld #ficusbonsai #tree #bonsai @kawausopottery (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)

Well, if anything, it has character and a first branch…..green island ficus, one of the trees in the latest blogpost (https://adamaskwhy.com/2017/12/22/the-return-of-the-bonsai-turkey/) #mybonsaiworld #trees#blog#bonsai #ficusbonsai #americanbonsai #floridabonsai (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)

Today’s Back Bumper Bonsai, a willow leaf ficus (ficus salicaria) 3rd styling (The first was pruning to a line, maybe wire on the main branches and cleaning up roots, second was removing wire and simplifying/cleaning branches). This time, flipping through the pics, you see I’ve let it grow wild, so I chose branches and then wired again. I love that you can build trees with ficus almost branch by branch. All within six months. Gotta get ya’ one! #mybonsaiworld #floridabonsai #americanbonsai #ficusbonsai #bonsai #trees (at Adam’s Art and Bonsai Studio and Nursery)
